The Pursuit of Purpose

The pursuit of purpose.

So often we go about life and some of us never really discover what we were meant to achieve. I thought to myself, and was like well, “for people to conquer always then there must be a purpose that those people are fulfilling”. I thought this would be the perfect article to introduce everyone to conquering always – The pursuit of purpose. The why we do what we do. The reason to conquer always.

One needs to understand that to be able to conquer, he/she must serve a particular purpose. There must be something that the person is living for. Let me start by defining what pursuit of purpose really means.

Purpose – An idea or aim kept in the mind as the goal towards which one’s efforts are directed. A definite intention. The object or reason for which something exists or is done.

Pursuit – The act of striving. Pursuit is an effort to accomplish, to proceed along a course.

As you go about life, one needs to discover what is it that sets their soul on fire. The purpose of their existence. With that being said, some of you are probably asking, “how do I discover my purpose?”

  1. Discover your passion.

What is it that you are passionate about? In most cases the one thing that you are passionate about sets the tone for where the journey of life takes you. Find something that keeps you awake at night. Something that makes you abandon your bed on a Monday morning and then work towards the realisation of that passion.

  1. Discover the goal you want to achieve.

Your passion will set a tone for the end goal. The manifestation of this goal will keep you motivated and will give you strength to keep going.

  1. Write your vision down.

Writing down gives one a clear picture of what the end mission will be like. It helps you conceptualise and see it in your mind. If you can see yourself achieving it then you can do it. You need to see and believe the imaginations in your mind and then you will be able to achieve them.

  1. Make confessions daily. Speak it into the atmosphere.

In the 1990’s, Dr. Masaru Emoto conducted a series of experiments to observe the effect of words, prayers, music and the environment on the crystalline structure of water. Photographers were present and took pictures of water after several variables were exposed to it. From the experiment, it was observed that the water that was exposed to positive words was more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing than the water that was exposed to more harsh and negative words. The water that was exposed to negative and heavy metal music had a chaotic and fragmented structure and no crystals had formed.

The above experiment just illustrates that as humans, we have the power to alter our physical world with our thoughts and intentions. Whatever you want to achieve, speak it forth. Declare everyday that you have it. Believe in your confessions and you shall have.

Confessions, give you the boldness and confidence to tackle any situation. A great speaker once said, “Great man and woman are made by words”.

  1. Carry on in life and pursue your purpose.

There you have it. All that is left for you to do is to work smart and ensure that your purpose is fulfilled. Always remember that success is hard work. It’s all about how far you are willing to go, to see your vision come to life. How much you want your purpose to be fulfilled. Everything you do, should be geared towards the realization of that purpose. Your life will be directed by your interest, zeal and enthusiasm to see your purpose accomplished.

Journey ahead in life and be in constant pursuit of your purpose. Stop at nothing until you have achieved it all. Only you have the power to make your dreams come true. Soar high like an eagle, the view is great up there and the contentment of your fulfilled purpose will keep you there.

“One thing that paralyses people to dream big is fear. Most of our countrymen have small dreams and they talk a lot of fear, if you listen to them. They love to play it safe, hiding in some corner. They do not like risky situations, this is a transmittable disease. If you stay with such people for a long time you buy into their mindset. You will not be able to dream anymore” – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
